Nope. They’re not the same thing. Here’s my perspective.
Getting Work Done
Way too often I see small business owners who will market like crazy to get enough work to last for a month or two. Then they stop marketing. When two months have passed and that work dries up, they market like crazy again until they get more work, then they stop marketing again. It’s a crazy and exhausting way to do business.
Doing Business
What each small business owner needs to do is consistently market to keep the prospect funnel full — always have new customers and more work coming into the business to maintain a steady stream of work and cash flow.
Remember that as a small business owner, you should spend at least 50% of your time marketing and creating new business. Don’t fall into a trap of getting business, doing work, getting business, doing work — it will wear you out and severely impact your bottom line.
