If you sit at a computer for most of the day, it’s tempting to constantly check your email to see what’s new. But that’s a time management disaster if you’re trying to make progress in your business. Resist the temptation. Here are a couple of tips to help you get that time eating monster under control.
- Turn off email notification (like the beep or pop up screen). It’s just like a ringing phone that demands to be answered. Even in the instant world that exists today, email can wait.
- Establish a schedule for checking and responding to emails (this works for phone calls and voice mail too). Put it in your daily schedule and treat the time like an important meeting. Your clients and customers will get “trained” on your response method and you’ll be a lot better off.

Great point made! The more you can eliminate the “interuptions”, the better. I also like the “create a time slot” for checking emails & making contact. I have owned a personalized gift store (brick & mortar) for over 35 yrs. My only time to “check & respond” seems to be morning & evening. Now I will try to make a “mid-day time slot” for the ‘urgent’ emails. See you can teach a “seasoned entrepreneur” how to do new tricks:).
Thank you !!!!!
