Got a Goal to Improve Your Blog in 2011?

Now is the time of year when we start thinking about what we want to accomplish during the next year. I know I’ve been working on my goals for 2011. Have you?

Because a big part of my business revolves around my blog here at deniseoberry.com, learning how to do new things to improve are important to me. I thought they might be important to you too.

One of the tools I’ve used to move things forward is the book, 31 Days to Build a Better Blog by Problogger Darren Rowse. A little background. In 2009, Darren ran a 31 day email challenge to improve your blog. It was really fun and I made a bunch of changes to my blog. Then he turned that challenge into a book. And a mighty good one. I picked up a copy back then so I would have a copy handy to continuously improve. Plus I keep a copy on my Kindle so I can refer to it often. [Read more...]

QuickBooks 2011 Review – You Can Start for Free

When I was doing research for my book, Small Business Cash Flow, I asked small business owners how they were keeping track of the financials in their companies. The answer was pretty surprising — about 50% didn’t use software of any kind. They either did it manually (yes, pen and paper!) or used some type of spreadsheet.

I truly don’t understand why someone would do that when they could use software like QuickBooks to make their life easier and save them time to do important things like marketing their business.
